This cultural facility in the urban center of Carbajosa de la Sagrada, a municipality in Salamanca province, is located at Plaza de la Constitución, very close to the Church of the Assumption. It is a new building that uses the best features of its site as a reference, namely the church’s entrance porch and row of columns, which it reinterprets on a contemporary note. The cultural center makes itself part of a large portal, an open gallery that projects toward the square and strikes up a dialogue with the public space.

The rhythmic order of the exterior loggia is combined with a free and fluid indoor space designed to harbor a diverse cultural program. The building is organized on a floor plan with an irregular triangular morphology, developed on different levels above ground.

The service and vertical-circulation cores are situated at the ends, freeing up the central space and facilitating a functional distribution of the program. The interior circulation between these cores is complemented with exterior corridors that also serve as outdoor expansion spaces.

The first level contains classrooms, and the library occupies the top levels, which are connected by an internal staircase. A double-height space ensures visual connection between stories and opens out to the exterior porch, where a terrace offers an additional area for reading and socializing.
