HMZ House in San Luis Potosí

Lucio Muniain

Next to La Loma Country Club, in the Mexican city of San Luis Potosí, stands this two-floor house sculpted in exposed concrete. With an area of 800-square-meters, the composition of volumes generates a play of lights and shadows at different heights and with different breadths.

Achieved with a formwork made of boards, the wood-like textures imprinted on the concrete have the effect of bringing organic forms of nature into the home. The palette of sober materials also includes travertine, steel, glass, and wood.

Although there are windows, the house looks inward. The rooms succeed one another along interconnected routes, in an open plan that seeks to produce a sense of connection and spaciousness.
