The Abrahamic Family House, Abu Dhabi
Adjaye Associates

On Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, the Abrahamic Family House headquarters has been inaugurated. It embodies the historical bonds linking three Abrahamic religions – Judaism , Christianity, and Islam – and provides a platform for dialogue and coexistence. The complex embraces a church, a mosque, and a synagogue on a one-level plinth that contains a library and exhibition galleries. Despite a seeming simplicity, each of the three cubes is defined by its own orientation and its use on the outside of a particular construction element: limestone pilasters in the church, elongated arches in the mosque, and V-shaped columns in the synagogue.
