Maison à Pontaillac in Royan

A6A - Atelier 6 Architecture

The French firm atelier 6 architecture designed this one-family residence in Pontaillac, a residential zone of Royan, a town in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The conception of this two-story house comes from lessons learned from examples of modern architecture, with aesthetics used not as an ornament but as a raison d'être. Concepts like light and gravity are given importance through a heavy material presence. In a composition that draws inspiration from engravings by Pablo Palazuelo, the white-painted concrete blocks are fragmented by horizontal gray frames.
