Vision for Madrid

Her drawings from the 1980s already show that Zaha Hadid (Baghdad, 1950) was determined to produce a new architecture. Starting from the recovery of the suprematist forms, the Anglo-Iraqi architect developed a visual language of her own which has evolved gradually from fragmentation towards fluidity. During this process, the possibilities offered by computers became more important and the number of architectural commissions she received increased. Pritzker Prize laureate in 2004, Hadid has also explored the fields of art and design, as can be seen in the exhibition ‘Zaha Hadid. Beyond Boundaries, Art and Design’ at Ivorypress Art+Books Space in Madrid. In Barcelona, the exhibition ‘Cartografías contemporáneas’ (Contemporary Cartographies) offers a view of how current artists question representation systems and provide new formulas to classify reality.
