Barcelona has a new space dedicated to contemporary architecture and art. The Barcelona Center for Contemporary Culture (CCCB), directed by Josep Ramoneda, occupies the Casa de la Caridad, a group of nineteenth-century buildings surrounding a large courtyard, and has been remodeled to house exhibitions by Helio Piñón and Albert Viaplana, who have also added a glass structure topped with a slight curve that closes off the courtyard and suggests the gesture of covering it.
