30/04/2010

Carlos Ferrater

Awarded in prior editions to Santiago Calatrava, Oriol Bohigas, Matilde Ucelay or Miguel Fisac, the National Architecture Award granted by the Ministry of Housing in recognition of life achievement has been presented to the Catalan Carlos Ferrater. Author, among many other projects, of the Intermodal Station of Zaragoza (2003), the MediaPro Building in Barcelona (2008), or the recently completed Waterfront Promenade of Benidorm, Carlos Ferrater established in 2006 the studio OAB (Office of Architecture in Barcelona) with his associate Xavier Martí and his daughter Lucía and son Borja. Furthermore, and for the first time, the Ministry has granted the Housing National Award to the Murcia architect Fernando Ramón Moliner for his “commitment with dwelling for citizens from a global and advanced approach to housing, centered on the form of access, urbanistic ideology, or the conditions to take advantage of passive energies in the buildings:?natural lighting and ventilation and sunning”. Moliner is the author of different studies about the technical and social aspects of housing in Spain.
