A true master of contemporary architecture, the Portuguese Álvaro Siza already has all the important trophies in his possession, but it has probably made him very happy to be feted with none other than Spain’s National Prize for Architecture, given by the Spanish Ministry of Public Works with a cash award amounting to 60,000 euros. This is a trans-Iberian recognition of the importance of Siza works carried out in different parts of Spain – some of which are genuine masterpieces, such as the Galician Center of Contemporary Art in the city of Santiago de Compostela – as well as of his tremendous influence on by now several generations of Spanish architects.
