Displayed in the latest edition of ARCO, Madrid 666 is a narration in which reality and fiction converge, a multifaceted exercise based on the construction of a modern myth. Devised by Arturo Garrido, architecture student from the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM), the project looks for evidence to support the legend according to which the Gates of Hell would be buried under the Fountain of the Fallen Angel in Madrid’s Retiro Park – a monument located at a height of 666 meters and devoted to Lucifer. What begins as a strict investigation soon derives in a poetic falsification of history, and culminates with the planning of a huge excavation that lets us peer into the abyss... [+]
