Of the 6,300 handwritten pages preserved today of Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), more than 600 are kept at the Spanish National Library. Under the name Códices Madrid I y II (Madrid Codices I-II), the volumes reflect the flow of thought of the Florentine erudite on subjects that go from mechanics and statics to the study of fortifications or bronze casting.
