Arch, art installation in Stockholm
Ai Weiwei- Material Steel
- City Stockholm
- Country Sweden
- Photographer Jean Lapin
Located in front of the main entrance of the National Museum of Stockholm, this arch-shaped cage of polished steel is pierced by the silhouette of two people holding one another, appearing to break through it. The 12-meter-tall work of the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei seeks to promote the idea of a world without borders. It was first seen in New York in 2017 as part of the Good Fences Make Good Neighbors installation, and this time is part of a series of cultural events being held in the Swedish capital which Brilliant Minds of Spotify’s co-founder, Daniel Ek, has organized. Arch will stay in front of the museum for a year, to then be moved to a permanent spot elsewhere in the Stockholm. The location has yet to be revealed.
