Bilbao bet on the winning horse of brand-name image and architecture in order to provide the city with a new identity. And the metallic flower that grew from the banks of the Nervión fulfilled more than its expectations, converting itself into an exceptional body of resonance. Equally attentive to the dialogue with the old industrial edge of the estuary as to the fabric of the ‘Ensanche’ city blocks, the museum consists of a series of different pieces around a monumental glazed atrium. Each one responds to a specific urban situation yet at the same time participates in a plastic, lyrical choreography. From the project use of a computer program of the aerospace industry, to the titanium scale cladding of the curved volumes, everything is exceptional in this work, paradigm of a society which has transformed culture into spectacle.
