The Danish firm Dorte Mandrup embarks on its fourth project in the Arctic region. This time, for the brand Norrøna, it has designed a hotel on the west coast of Senja, Norway’s second-largest island, known for impressive sceneries.
At approximately 1,800 square meters, the hotel features individual lodges connected by a large stone roof that continues the formations of the surrounding landscape. They are arranged in a circle around a restaurant. The building rises from the ground and spreads out, fragmented. Wood and slate combine with elements of an existing construction in ruins, reducing the project’s visual impact and creating an architectural expression that is simple but textured. The hotel is to open in 2026.
