Over the years since it opened in the late 1960s, the Trumpf machinery factory has grown and expanded to become a large industrial campus in the German city of Ditzingen, 15 kilometers from Stuttgart. It has already grown horizontally all it can, so this fitness and sports center for the company’s employees has gone up vertically, on top of an existing logistics center at the southwest end of the grounds. The 7,400-square-meter sporting facilities are organized in two areas: a zone for fitness, yoga, and classes, with panoramic views of the surroundings; and a sports hall with three playing fields. Using spruce timber reduces the weight of the new construction on top of the old logistics center. The clear span of the trusses reaches 23.5 meters maximum, with a height of up to 1.2 meters.
