Primitiva House in Pioz

Hanghar

The Madrid firm HANGHAR (Eduardo Mediero, Stefania Rasile, Almudena Tenorio) designed this building surrounded by 14 hectares of vineyards, close to a winery of the town of Pioz, in Guadalajara province. It is a 120-square-meter farmhouse for the artist Bosco Sodi, and the scheme seeks a new look at the concept of minimum essential housing, questioning its relationship with the natural environment.

With a gabled roof and and an exterior finish of sprayed water-repellent mortar, a common insulation material in the area, the building has an interior that resembles an industrial shed, with five visible metal trusses that extend over four openings, organizing the residential program from the most public and external – opening out to the landscape with two large pivoting glass doors – to the most private and internal, seeking privacy through deep small windows.
