On a bank of the Chao Phraya River in Ban Run, a district in Thailand’s Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, Bangkok Project Studio – headed by Boonserm Premthada – has built this wine bar, a pavilion 9 meters tall with sides of 11 meters, conceived as a tourist attraction. Wrapped in a mobile skin of PVC a millimeter thick, the steel-reinforced plywood structure is left exposed and blends in with the surrounding trees. The interior space is fragmented by four platforms situated at different heights to optimize views of the river, and access to them is through five spiral staircases that also act as loadbearing elements.
