Sauerbruch Hutton. Geometry and Construction

31/03/2020

Berlin-Based since 1989, Sauerbruch Hutton is an architectural practice run by its founders, Matthias Sauerbruch and Louisa Hutton, with Juan Lucas Young, a partner since 1999. Their work combines a chromatic and material sensuality with an interest in industrial structures, the inspiration provided by organic forms, attention to the user’s perception, and the application of sustainability principles. All this comes to the fore in the works the firm has carried out, from the mythical Berlin headquarters of the company GSW to the three buildings featured here: a heritage museum in Venice, a science and technology one in Heilbronn, and an apartment block for students in Hamburg.
