Mies van der Rohe Award 2022

26/04/2022

The winners of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award for 2022 have been announced in Brussels. Town House at Kingston Univertsity in London – by Dublin-based Grafton Architects, led by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara – has won in the Architecture category; a firm time for a university building.

The Emerging Architecture Prize has gone to La Borda cooperative housing in Barcelona, by the firm Lacol. This cooperative project follows a model of co-ownership and co-management of shared resources and capacities. The studio also works as a cooperative of fourteen professionals with different areas of expertise.

The jury – Tatiana Bilbao, Francesca Ferguson, Mia Hägg, Triin Ojari, Georg Pendl, Spiros Pengas, and Marcel Smets – selected these two works out of a list of 532 works in 41 countries. The awarding ceremony will be held on 12 May at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona.
