‘Loops’ in a hospital of Bern
A work of the artist SpY and Studio Banana, the large-scale kinetic sculpture titled Loops has been installed in the atrium of the main building of Inselspital, the University Hospital of Bern, Switzerland. Twenty-four large rings shift about in changing choreographic patterns within a wide quadrangular space, creating contrasts. The shapes and movements seek to produce an effect of calm and harmony. The rings unite at the center of the atrium every 60 minutes, and one or several of them remain lit to tell the time of day or night. At night the installation unfolds in light movements.
