The deep-rooted association culture of Barcelona’s Sants neighborhood revealed to a group of young professionals setting up an office there what would become the foundation of their practice: the idea that architecture is less about projects per se than about all that happens around them. Thus began a collective based on participatory and horizontal structures, in an awareness that only in a community spirit can our current problems and the market’s unmerciful logics be dealt with. Arquitectura Viva presents its work in four movements that are simply variations on the same theme, placed in context in a coda by Josep Maria Montaner and Zaida Muxí.
