The Frate Sole Foundation has awarded the Canarian architect Fernando Menis with the 2004 International Prize for Sacred Architecture for the Church of the Holy Redeemer of Las Chumberas in La Laguna (Tenerife), which was chosen from among 128 designs from 28 countries. This accolade is given every four years and comes with a money prize of 15,000 euros. Previous winners include Tadao Ando, Rafael Moneo, John Pawson, and Álvaro Siza. The awarding ceremony will be held on 5 October in Pavia, Italy.
