Editeca, as it did with the Instituto de Tecnología de la Construcción (ITEC), has signed a strategic agreement with the Clúster de La Rioja en Innovación de la Construcción (ARIC) with the aim of bringing BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology to architects, engineers, and professionals in the construction sector. The collaboration, which aims to facilitate the implementation of BIM through training for an increasingly sustainable and efficient ecosystem, includes a 50% subsidy for 20 places on the BIM Master's training programs at Editeca, a technical school endorsed by the Universidad Europea Miguel de Cervantes.
This agreement stems from a common concern: the urgent need to digitize the architectural sector and train professionals in collaborative methodologies that optimize efficiency, reduce errors, and improve the sustainability of construction projects. At a time when the industry demands technical profiles with advanced training, these types of alliances are key tools for talent development.
“Our mission as an association is to promote innovation within the architectural sector in La Rioja, and BIM training is currently a priority. This agreement with Editeca allows us to offer a concrete and accessible solution to Spanish-speaking professionals,” says ARIC.
For his part, Rafael González del Castillo, director of Editeca, points out: “We have been training professionals from more than 20 countries in BIM methodology for years. This collaboration with ARIC reinforces our commitment to making high-level training more inclusive, more practical, and better adapted to the needs of today's market.”
In line with the public administrations' BIM Implementation Plan 2024-2030, ARIC and Editeca aim to strengthen accessible training programs (master's degrees, modular courses) aimed at small businesses, encourage ISO 19650 certification among professionals and organizations, and promote pilot initiatives that showcase local success stories with clear return metrics.
BIM training as a driver of transformation
According to the latest industry studies, 32% of Spanish organizations have already implemented BIM, and 26% are in the process of doing so. Even so, 34% of companies have not yet taken the plunge, revealing a degree of maturity that is still uneven.
In this context, BIM certification through master's degrees and specialized training under ISO 19650, which regulates collaborative information management in BIM projects, is still limited: only 12.7% of companies are certified, and 26.3% are not even aware of it. Training and standardization are thus emerging as key pillars for consolidating the methodology in the Spanish professional and business fabric.
