Chido Santa Engracia Restaurant in Madrid

MOCA estudio

This eatery designed by MOCA estudio (Carlos Moles Romero, Adrián Sánchez), is at Santa Engracia 54, in Madrid's Chamberí neighborhood. On the ground floor of a listed 1925 building, it has a floor area of 300 square meters, 180 of which is the public part. Along the longitudinal axis of this level, two types of space sequences mark different atmospheres. One type has spaces which are compressed and reflecting; the other shows rooms have a more diluted and matte feel. The former presents tiles and plays of mirrors that blur limits; the other, halls where beige-toned, cement-like resins strike a contrast with an inherited technical ceiling clad in black-painted vermiculite, as well as the wood of the furniture, the marble surfaces, and the prints of the upholstery. Curved reliefs and rough textures resolve the transitions.
