Het Loo Palace reopens

KAAN Architecten

Upon the death of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands in 1962, Het Loo – the summer residence of the House of Orange-Nassau – became a property of the State, and some time later it was turned into a museum. Through an extensive renovation, KAAN Architecten has not only returned splendor to the halls along which stadtholders and monarchs once strode, but has also added 5,000 square meters of galleries and public zones under the cour d’honneur, the elegance of which is much enhanced by Macael marble cladding and the well studied overhead lighting.
