Although Portugal is mainly a maritime country, its inland is traversed by mighty mountains, largely unknown of but whose beauty will not be unfamiliar to those who have read authors like Eça de Queirós or Miguel Torga. In one of those ranges, on a massif located in the Serra do Moradal, the traveler can from now on stop at a platform which, as part of the renovation of a resting area at the confluence of a regional road and a popular hiking trail, cantivelers over a huge crag to offer incomparable views of the valley below.

Held up by a simple bracket fixed directly to the rocky wall, a circular deck fifteen meters in diameter, executed entirely in exposed reinforced concrete, is equipped with an undulating opaque guardrail that has the effect of accentuating the two round holes on the floor, which make a dizzying sensation of floating over the precipice accompany the expected rapture provided by the landscape...[+]
