Mobility Center in L'Île-Saint-Denis

Martin Duplantier Architectes

Built in line with the 2024 Olympic Games held in Paris, this seven-story garage in L'Île-Saint-Denis freed up the neighborhood of vehicles. The structural bracing system was included in the design of the facade and the whole building serves as a landmark within the Olympic Village, facing the park, the Seine, and Paris’s main ring road. Inside, a minimal number of loadbearing support points made it possible to maximize flexibility and parking capacity, also reducing the construction’s carbon footprint by not raising a second skin. A work of Martin Duplantier, the Mobility Center offers 392 spots for cars, 20 for motorcycles, and an area for bicycles. The criteria guiding the design included reversibility, scalability, and low carbon emissions.
