ASCER, the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association, announced the winners of this year’s Tile of Spain Awards for Architecture and Interior Design. The aim of this these accolades is to distinguish architectural works and interiors that have best put to use ceramic pavements and claddings made in Spain. On the jury chaired by Eric Parry sat Luis Rojo (Rojo/Fernández-Shaw), Biba Dow (Dow Jones Architects), Agnès Blanch (estudi vilablanch), and Ángel Pitarch (Castellón Institute of Architects). A social housing development in Ibiza by Ripoll Tizón won in the Architecture category. In the Interior Design section the winner was the project titled ‘Ávila: Planning and Empty Space,’ by All Around Lab (Noelia de la Red, Jordi Ribas). In addition, the best Final Degree Project was ‘Rampant Architecture: The Town and the Home,’ by Marta Millanes Sánchez from the Toledo School of Architecture.
