ASCER, the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association, announced the winners of the latest Ceramic Tile in Architecture and Interior Design Awards, given yearly to highlight projects completed in Spain that have made outstanding use of ceramic floors and claddings. In the jury, presided by Carlos Ferrater, were Fermín Vázquez (b270), Jaime Sanahuja (Sanahuja & Partners), José María Marzo (Tectónica), Alicia Fernández (Alicia Fernández Interiorismo), and Ángel Pitarch (Colegio Arquitectos de Castellón). The award for Architecture went to the new headquarters of the Valencia Construction Sector Employment Foundation in Bétera, by MRM arquitectos (Miguel Alonso Flamarique, Roberto Erviti Machain, Mamen Escorihuela Vitales); the winner in the Interior Design section is ‘Living in a Coderch’ in Barcelona, by Estudio vilablanch; and the ‘Castilla-La MaRcha: A Rersort for Motivated Spain’ by Gonzalo López Elorriaga (ETSAM / Madrid School of Architecture) was named Best End-of-Degree Project.
