The Seville-based firm of Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra is the winner of an international competition for the opportunity to restructure the central area of the Cornavin Railway Station in Geneva. The purpose of the project is to improve the station’s operations, with a view to connecting it to the underground enlargement and renovation programmed for execution in two phases between 2025 and 2050, and to develop a new identity for the Cornavin complex and the neighborhood at large. The winning design therefore frees up the spaces that surround the station, and creates on the north facade a 400-meter urban portico that bends and inclines along the entire street.
