Tadao Ando recounts that, when he was young, he found a collection of sketches by Le Corbusier and felt the spirit of the master within him. He thought that by tracing his drawings day after day, he would become his spiritual heir and decided to meet him. When he arrived in Paris, Le Corbusier had died. Now the apprentice wants to achieve the popularity of the master and knows that a picture is worth a thousand words. That is why he has been distributing the same photograph to the press for some time now, which is on its way to becoming an image of devotion, and it is not surprising that in our media age he has already been consecrated, despite his somewhat limited career. Proof of this can be found in the retrospective exhibitions with which two shrines of contemporary culture have honored him: the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Pompidou Center in Paris...[+]
