On view until 28 August at ArkDes, the Swedish Center for Architecture and Design, is ‘Sigurd Lewerentz: Architecture of Death and Life,’ the first exhaustive show on a master who has garnered more recognition posthumously than he ever did while alive. Avoiding the cliché of the reclusive author, a complete legacy in the custody of the Stockholm museum reveals a corpus of work that is rich in influences and collaborations. His oeuvre goes way beyond the mythical churches and cemeteries he is invariably associated with, encompassing an array of projects that includes urban planning, furniture, and graphic design.
