Just like Beatriz de Moura and Esther Tusquets, Rosa Regàs belonged to a generation of rich kids – cultivated and naughty at the same time – that made Barcelona a haven of freedom and creativity in the death throes of the dictatorship. A woman of great vitality, she worked with Carlos Barral before founding her own publishing house, La Gaya Ciencia. This was followed by a career as a UN interpreter and undertakings in institutions like Casa de América and the National Library, crowned by a brilliant written oeuvre that earned the Nadal and Planeta awards, among others. Architecture will remember her not only because she was close to the likes of Oscar Tusquets and Oriol Bohigas, but also for having published the influential magazine Arquitecturas Bis.
