'Arquitecturas Bis’, 50 Years Later

The anthropologist Marvin Harris stressed in his book Theories of Culture in Postmodern Times (1999) how much postmodernity had done to make science and reason – associated with the pressure and oppression of totalitarian regimes – give way to emotion, sensations, introspection, intuition, autonomy, creativity, imagination, fantasy, and contemplation. In comparison to Europe’s consolidated democracies, Spain underwent and forged a democratic restoration when postmodern logic was in full swing. In what concerns architecture, it contributed on one hand in defining the buildings that represented the country’s new institutions, and on the other in reforming the training of architects in schools that were growing in size and number.
