‘Rafael Moneo revisits his work’ on RTVE Channel 2
The documentary Rafael Moneo Revisits His Work premieres on television this Sunday 29 September at 21:30, in the program Imprescindibles on RTVE Channel 2. The prolific work of Rafael Moneo (Tudela, 1937) and his unique way of tackling the creative process forms the groundwork of this documentary directed by Poldo Pomés, in a co-production of Fundación Arquia.
Accompanied by the journalist Xavier Mas de Xazàs, the master from Navarre takes the viewer on architectural promenades through places like Barcelona, Madrid, Majorca, Mérida, Murcia, Stockholm, Rome, New York, and Venice, in a narrative organized in three acts: ‘The Lesson of Rome,’ ‘Teaching,’ and ‘The City, Cities.’ By means of his close and extremely curious gaze, the 62 minutes of footage offer a conversational journey that interweaves a selection of his works, in a professional career of over fifty years, with biography. At his studio in Madrid’s El Viso neighborhood he explains how sketches and freehand drawings have been fundamental to his work. “To draw is to think up unexpected things,” says Moneo.
The documentary will after this first broadcasting be available for a month on the platform RTVE Play.
