Seró Barrow / Sever do Vouga School

Toni Gironès, for his Cultural Center in the Megalithic Dolmen of Seró in Artesa de Segre (Lleida), and the Portuguese Pedro Domingos, for the School in Sever do Vouga (Portugal), shared the FAD Award for Architecture in its 55th edition, prevailing over the other 25 finalists out of a total of 401 works presented. Presided by Dani Freixes, the jury highlighted the “rich reflection on the environment and the relationship between the sumptuary past and the agrarian present” of Gironès’s work, and also praised how Domingos’s school “makes the experience of inhabiting memorable from the perspective of a child, through open spaces and paths of great beauty.” La Lira Theater in Ripoll, by RCR Arquitectes merited the City and Landscape award. The Interior Design award went to the renovation of the restaurant and cocktail bar Il Giardinetto in Barcelona, by Ivan Pomés and Max Llamazares, while three books received prizes in the Thought and Criticism category: Estrategias operativas en arquitectura, by Jacobo García-Germán, El jardín en movimiento, by Gilles Clément, and Plan Poché, by Raúl Castellanos.
