FAD Award 2007

Antequera Courts of Justice

Ignacio Laguillo and Harald Schönegger are the authors of the Antequera Courts of Justice, winning work in the Architecture category at the 49th edition of the FAD Awards. The building proposed by this Seville-based studio is a bold and opaque volume on the outside, but clear andfriendly on the inside, able to set itself modestly apart from the banal context in which it is inserted. In this sense, the FAD Awards jury highlighted that the piece reflects an “architecture with an admirable internal consistence and coherence, which by no means tries to rise as an icon”. As for the remaining categories, the award for Interior Design went ex aequo to the Sabadell Atlàntic Bank of Barcelona, by Pepe Cortés León, and the Pedro Barrié de la Maza Foundation in Vigo, by Mansilla & Tuñón. The prize for Ephemeral Interventions went to two exhibitions: that of Toni Gironés in La Pedrera and that of Carlos and Borja Ferrater at the Arte Canal Exhibition Center, in Madrid. The newer categories of City and Landscape commended the Las Salinas Pools and Promenade by the Portuguese Paulo David in the island of Madeira.
