Neo-Rotonda in Barcelona
Developed by Accenture Song with its Hybrid Spaces team (Nacho Martín, Ana Petra Moriyón), the Neo-Rotonda is a multimedia space comprising different immersive levels. It is located in Torre Andreu, a modernist tower in Barcelona known as La Rotonda, on the corner of Passeig de Sant Gervasi and Avinguda del Tibidabo, which currently houses offices of different companies, Accenture included.
In the manner of a spatial manifesto, Neo-Rotonda seeks to meet three objectives: to rethink Barcelona’s identity with new formats; to communicate innovation capacities; and to create a collaborative space for informal staff gatherings, project presentations, and respite.
With a textile enclosure that absorbs carbon dioxide through the priming of its surfaces, the project draws inspiration from the rotunda that crowns the building. Visually it resorts to modernist elements updated in a composition of neural art in the screen-vault. With LAMAQUINA, pieces have been designed for plants to grow in as 3D-printed ceramic pinnacles. In collaboration with Entangled Others, the content uses Artificial Intelligence with shapes taken from nature mutating in accordance with environmental conditions. Sensors measure occupancy levels and outdoor air quality, which are then translated into different visual contents.
