On view through 10 January at the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao, which has organized the exhibition in collaboration with the Barbican Centre in London, is the first retrospective show ever to be offered in Spain on the American abstract expressionist painter Lee Krasner, a fundamental figure of postwar American art albeit sometimes relegated to the shadow of her husband, Jackson Pollock. From the representational self-portraits of her beginnings to the intense chromatics of her large abstract canvases, Krasner’s work was in continuous reinvention, in firm pursuit of truth and authenticity in artistic expression.
