The Madrid firm Paredes Pedrosa – of Ignacio Pedrosa and Ángela García de Paredes – has won first prize in the competition to build a home for elderly people in Palma de Mallorca. Selected out of 45 entries, the project ensures accommodation for 120 people in the six modules comprising the center. There will also be communal areas, medical facilities (including for physiotherapy and rehabilitation), offices, and spaces for general services. With a floor area of 5,474 square meters, the complex will be organized in a series of seemingly autonomous arms connected by a central core. This strategy optimizes natural lighting while contributing to the maintenance of privacy for the residing senior citizens.
