Memorial in London by Adjaye

Monumental Square

31/12/2017

Soon after completing the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., David Adjaye has carried the day over 92 others in the competition for the UK National Holocaust Memorial in London. The monument will rise in one of the most symbolic places of the British capital, close to Parliament and within the Victoria Tower Gardens, and it will be a reminder of the millions of Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, and disabled people who were murdered by the Nazis. It will stand at one end of the Gardens in order to keep the park free of constructions, creating a broad esplanade from which will emerge an ensemble of powerful allegorical ribs.
