The firm Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos – of Fuensanta Nieto and Enrique Sobejano – is the winner of the competition promoted by the German state of Saxony to design the Archive of the Avant-garde of the Marzona Collection in the historical center of Dresden. Selected out of 28 finalists, the proposal refurbishes and extends the Baroque building of the Blockhaus to house and display to the public the archive donated by the collector Egidio Marzona. With a floor area of 2,000 square meters and an estimated investment of 20 million euros, the volume will rise as a concrete cube within the Blockhaus, freeing up the entire ground floor as a flexible space for a variety of events.
