Promoted by the Spanish Architecture Forum of the CSCAE (Spanish Council of Architectural Institutes), the awards for international Spanish architecture were presented by the Prince of Asturias in a ceremony held at Madrid’s Senate. In this first edition of the awards – launched to stimulate and foster projects by Spanish professionals abroad –, the distinctions were given in the following five categories: Architecture Award, to Antonio Cruz and Antonio Ortiz for the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam; Emerging Architect Abroad, to Pilar Calderón and Marc Folch for the Léonce Georges Center in Chauffaille (France); Competition Project Award, to the studio MX_SI for the extension of the Gösta Museum of the Serlachius Foundation in Mänttä (Finland); Associate Spanish Company Award, to Constructora San José; and Promotion of Internationalization Award, to ‘ArqCatMón. Arquitectura catalana en el mundo’ (Catalonian architecture abroad), by Jordi Farrando, Llucía Nadal, Darko Kramer, Rafael Balanzó and Fernando Porcel (International Department of the COAC, Catalan Insitute of Architects).
