On 30 June, the architect Roberto Valle passed away at the age of 70. He was born in Orense, studied in Madrid and Valladolid, and made the latter his home, setting up a practice there after his 1976 graduation and serving the provincial government for 35 years. His long career encompassed projects in interior design, housing, and urban planning, but he is perhaps best known for his work on historical buildings: he delicately fitted the Wine Museum into one of the courtyards of the castle of Peñafiel, attached the Bread Museum to the Mudejar church in Mayorga, refurbished the Zorrilla Theater in Valladolid, and carried out the vaulted roof over the Roman ruins of Almenara, which earned him the Europa Nostra Award in 2004.
