At the Venice Architecture Biennale, Eduardo Souto de Moura was awarded the Golden Lion for best participant in the ‘Freespace’ exhibition curated by Shelley and McNamara of Grafton Architects, where he has juxtaposed two aerial photographs that show the barely noticeable impact of the architect’s work on a farming estate in the Alentejo region of Portugal, inhabited by one same family for all of eight generations and now transformed into Hotel São Lourenço do Barrocal.
