The recently opened tower named Marsellesa rises 135 meters at Quais d'Arenc, close to the 142-meter headquarters of the French shipping company CMA CGM, built by Zaha Hadid Architects. The unique design of the gridded facade of concrete presents a gradation of 27 shadesof blue, red, and white, evoking the colors of the region (the blue of the sky, the red of the city's roofs, the white of the coastline of Marseilles). The work of the French architect Jean Nouvel also seeks to be an icon of sustainable architecture with its innovative system of mechanical air conditioning, use of recycled materials, paint resistant to aging, and a highly efficient energy recovery system.
