The landscape of Aalborg has materialized the changes taking place in history, evolving from an industrial city into a city of knowledge when the university was built. The ‘City in between’ competition is an endeavor to improve infrastructures, reshape the urban scheme and, above all, highlight the natural environment along the Limfjord River and the Kattegat Strait. In addressing these objectives, the project drawn up by the Copenhagen-based office Vandkunsten seeks to reconcile the dynamic character of the city with the glacier landscape of the fjord.
