The duo that until recently formed by Thom Mayne and Michael Rotondi, also known as Morphosis, had been sowing California with complicated (not complex) architectural objects for some years, and they have even crossed the Pacific to leave their mark in Japan (see Arquitectura Viva 16 and 21). This formal complication is situated in the deconstructive path whose most veteran representative in those latitudes is Frank Gehry. But if Gehry's architecture has its accent on the articulation of increasingly tormented volumes, the objects designed by Morphosis place more emphasis on the structural and constructive aspect of a collection of pieces assembled like skeletons...[+]
