Zaha Hadid in Shenzhen

As many as 300,000 people crossing the border between continental China and Hong Kong on a daily basis are served by Huanggang Port Area, a strategic enclave for which the London-based firm Zaha Hadid Architects has drawn up a highly ambitious regeneration plan, creating around the harbor facilities a hub of scientific research and collaboration in industries, along with a series of new mixed-use developments, all of this structured by a pedestrian boulevard, two large squares located at the extremes, and a green belt stretching along Shenzhen’s riverbank.
