Roger Grasas (Barcelona, 1970) has won the Descubrimientos PHotoESPAÑA 2018 Prize with ‘Ha Aretz’ (‘the Promised Land’). The series, completed over seven years in the byblical landscapes of Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and Turkey, reflects how historical legacy and contemporary conditions – globalization, techno-capitalism, tourism, or war – are superimposed.
