Piuarch, Gucci in Milan (Italy)

The Milanese firm Piuarch has transformed the final assembly plant of an abandoned Caproni aircraft factory in Milan into a new headquarters for the fashion brand Gucci. Exceeding 35,000 square meters in floor area, the complex restores the original buildings, which now contain offices, exhibition galleries, event venues, and photography studios. The project preserves the brick facades and incorporates structures that hold up the roof skylights, while a new glazed cubic tower containing six floors, wrapped with metal sunscreens, rises over the old constructions, breaking the symmetry of the place, striking a contrast with the rows of brick-clad hangars.
